A 13-year-old who lost a leg to cancer will  get a new life-changing prosthetic limb from Britain's biggest-ever lottery jackpot  winners.

Heartrendingly Kieran Maxwell had to be  helped from the ground after he fell carrying the Olympic torch last month in  Bishop Auckland, County Durham, because of his current heavy artificial leg. 7 j! U+ E: H7 ]" b& @/ n7 }

But now he will be able to 'walk, run and  climb just like his friends,' his emotional mother Nicola said today, thanks to  Euromillionaires Colin and Chris Weir.tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb5 e  K; }; ~1 m% P

Brave: Kieran Maxwell carrying the Olympic Flame on the Torch Relay soon before he stumbled and fell because of his current prosthetic  leg but hopefully those problems will soon be over for him

Despite undergoing gruelling chemotherapy the brave 13-year-old had his  left leg amputated below the knee in March last year.% U3 u" f+ P8 u0 Y" s

'But the other factor that has affected visitor numbers is something they did expect - every Olympic host city has seen its overseas visitors go down during the period of the Olympics.

'Many Olympic visitors think it is going to be crowded and potentially too pricey.( Y4 \- |# w* M2 k( ]

'The type of overseas visitors who normally come are staying away and the visitors who do come tend to be Olympics-focused and may not go to galleries, cathedrals and museums.'

Mr Donoghue added that the drop in foreign visitors could benefit Britons who want to see attractions which are normally busier.

'The good news for Brits is there has never has been a better time to visit an attraction in London,' he said.( J3 j5 z' H3 c7 ^/ G' Z( C" c6 j

'There are fewer queues, tickets are guaranteed and many of the attractions have longer opening hours.'

While customers have deserted west and central London, a shopping mall in the east of the city is enjoying an Olympic boom.

The 1.9million sq ft Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, near the Olympic Stadium, has attracted thousands of competitors, volunteers and spectators from across the globe.

Westfield also has a mall in Shepherd's Bush, west London.

A spokesman for the company said: 'Traffic is meeting our expectations. Westfield has increased trading hours by up to 30 per cent at both London centres.'

Theatres have also seen a significant decline in ticket sales.

Nimax Theatres, which runs six venues in the West End, reported that last week was its worst this year.

The company's chief executive, Nica Burns, said: 'We're bleeding. For my six theatres, last week was the worst this year. I think the Olympics are great, but I feel like I've been the bullseye for the archery competition.'5 J; Q, v1 {' S# O) Z7 O1 s) N/ M4 l

Hotels began cutting their prices in June in an effort to fill empty rooms.

The website hotels.com said the average room price in London was slashed by a quarter after it was warned there was a 30 per cent drop in bookings during the Games.

Joel Brandon-Bravo, UK managing director of the travel website Travelzoo, said: 'As with the royal wedding, it does look like many hoteliers overestimated demand and are now left with empty rooms to fill.'

It was a magical moment at the Olympic Games  opening ceremony.
The audience seemed to disappear - only to be  replaced by a giant video screen engulfing the whole arena.
Today, the secret behind the effect has  finally been revealed, and it was all down to 70,500 small 'paddles', each  containing just nine high powered lights.& u* O9 H* v! E

Britain will salute its Olympic heroes with a victory parade which will see up to a million sports fans cheering Team GB through the streets of London.

The breath-taking achievements of around 800 Olympians and Paralympians will be recognised with a spectacular carnival of floats riding down The Mall to Buckingham Palace.

Medal winners such as Sir Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis will have the opportunity to show off their silverware at the parade on Monday September 10, after which both Team GB and Paralympics GB will be received by David Cameron.

The route: The September 10 parade will start at Mansion House and finish in front of Buckingham Palace

‘Importantly, it also gives the members of Team GB a chance to show their appreciation and gratitude for the truly inspirational support they received from the Great British public throughout the London 2012 Games.’

Tim Hollingsworth, Chief Executive of the British Paralympic Association, said: ‘With ParalympicsGB athletes about to embark on the most important sporting event of their lives, and ten days of intense competition about to start, we know we have to focus on what is still to come at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
