Try to get a new Video card come with HDMI output and 1080P Hardware codec and play it with KMPlayer. I use ATI 4350 with AMD 939 Athlon 64 3000 and 1Mb DDR Ram + KMPlayer. I have no any problem to play any format movie included MKV 1080P.

you got to learn how to open the Hardware codec to reduce the cpu usage.
