Anelka On The Move Yet Again
Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka could be on the move yet again only months after joining the Blues, if reports in the Sunday Mirror are to be believed.
The striker who has managed only 1 goal in 14 Premier League appearances for Chelsea has apparently failed to make the required impact at Stamford Bridge and could be surplus to requirements in the summer.
The news may not come as too much of a shock as Anelka already has the reputation of being something of a footballing nomad. The French international, 29, is already with the ninth club of his career, having joined Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers in January in a deal worth around £15 million.
The French international striker had been in sublime form for Bolton Wanderers earlier this season and his 10 league goals in 18 appearances for the struggling Trotters had persuaded Chelsea to splash out on him in the transfer window.
However despite some encouraging performances he has failed to find the net regularly and has found himself out of the side in recent weeks and often played out of position as Chelsea manage Avram Grant tries to find his best starting XI.
If Anelka does leave in the summer he is likely to join fellow strikers Didier Drogba and Andry Shevchenko both of whom have been heavily linked with moves away from the club. This would indicate a busy summer of transfer activity at Stamford Bridge who would basically need to invest in a brand new forward line.
Anelka meanwhile is likely to spend his summer with the French national squad at Euro 2008 having regained his place in the side under manager Raymond Domenech.
However once the tournament ends it could be that Anelka will once again be looking for a new place to call home.
