After dropping to fourth on the first lap, Rockenfeller pitted early on lap three and optimised an early standard-option-standard strategy to finish second and take his fourth podium of the 2013 season.

“The second place feels good,” said Rockenfeller after the race. “For a brief moment, I was thinking that I might be able to win, [but] today, Augusto was in a class of his own.

The Leicester man inherited pole after Bruno Spengler was handed a five-place grid penalty, but lost out on the start and did not challenge Rockenfeller for the second spot on the podium in the latter stages of the race.
