The incessant crying of a child for about 10 hours up to 1am Monday prompted a disturbed neighbour to take action, resulting in the rescue of a six-year-old girl locked up alone at her flat in Jalan Perak here. tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb5 G+ l( L* s. J) M- p
The neighbour, who declined to be identified, said she heard the girl crying from about 3pm Sunday.

A police spokesman said a team of policemen and Social Welfare Department personnel rushed to the flat Monday morning and forced their way in to see a frightened girl with injuries on her hands, legs and body, apparently the result of physical abuse.; G7 W8 a: k! m4 S0 p: W/ O4 }
She had been left alone at the flat by her father, who was spotted by neighbours returning to the housing estate but fled when he noticed policemen at his flat.

North East District Police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng confirmed the rescue and said an investigation has been initiated.
