Van Persie close to comeback
Holland international Robin van Persie is just a fortnight away from a return to action and Arsenal team-mate Cesc Fabregas is eager to be reunited with the striker on the pitch.
Arsenal are currently enjoying a successful season but Fabregas has said he finds it hard to watch his team-mate suffer with an injury. He said: “We all feel sorry for Robin and hope that we will be together again soon, to keep going as a team. It is not nice when you see players who deserve to be in our position as well to be out injured.”
Van Persie, who has been sidelined since picking up a thigh injury against Tottenham in the Carling Cup earlier in the month, returned to training this week and will hope to rack up some appearances and goals when he returns to the side.
The striker finished as Arsenal's top scorer last season and has already managed five goals this term despite only eight league appearances after numerous spells out injured.
As it stands The Gunners are second in The Premier League but have the opportunity to go top on Tuesday if they can achieve a similar result to their 3-0 FA Cup victory also against Newcastle at the weekend.
Fabregas added: “We will see what happens, but all we know is that we have to keep winning.
“We do not have to look at the others, we have to look at ourselves - if we win every game, we will be champions.” |
