本宫，可能指很多人，古代皇城中有很多宫殿，只要是一个宫殿的主人都可自称“本宫”，比如，太子叫“东宫”，可自称本宫，皇后可自称本宫，还有一些人，譬如公主，有正式封号的可以自称“本宫”。严格一点来讲，只有一宫之主才能这样自称，而一宫之主的正确含义，比如‘东宫’‘西宫’这样的统御者，才能着称，并不是说住在宫殿里的都能这样自称。但太后和太皇太后一般不会自称“本宫”的，因为在中国的古代，身份地位是分得很清楚的！
