| It looks really clear that your drawing having no change. Each cutting shape is matched with the other shapes. However, most of the cut triangles are too small to combine with the other cut triangle to become 1. By mathmetically, the area remain the same as 64. According to your drawing / cutting, you have 2 long triangle with 2 ladder shapes. The area of 2 long triangle is 2 each of (base x height / 2), which is 2x(3x8/2)= 24, and the area of 2 ladder shapes is 2each of (upper side + lower side)xheight /2), which is 2x((3+5)x5/2)=40. It ended up the total area is 24+40= 64. This is the same area as 8x8=64. |
