; e1 j4 K0 K0 A( kSEREMBAN: The year began on a sad note for shopkeepers at Pekan Kampung Baru Batu 8, Labu, near here, when fire swept through 16 shophouses and a house. There were no casualties.
# y/ c" B  J* ] The fire destroyed three coffee shops, two motorcycle workshops, two bookstores, two barber shops, two sundry shops, a photocopy shop, a restaurant and a flower shop besides a vacant house.
5 z; H& s  u6 @$ y1 G Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee said 25 fire-fighters with four engine — two each from Seremban and Seremban 2 — were sent to the scene after the department was alerted about the fire at 2.32am yesterday.
