The New York Knicks have picked up China's six-foot-nine(2.06-metre) point guard Sun Yue, signing the Olympian to a partlyguaranteed contract, the New York Times reported.
Sun, who waswaived by the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year, will participate inthe Knicks training camp which begins later this month, the paper said,citing Sun's agent Charles Bonsignore.
The 23-year-old, knownin his homeland as the Chinese Magic Johnson, won an NBA championshipwith the Lakers despite spending most of the season on the inactiveroster, and was waived in July.
Sun signed a two-year contractwith the Lakers in August 2008 after averaging 6.8 points and 2.5assists a game for the Chinese national team in the Beijing Olympics. |
