BP確定更換執行長 史上最大虧損322億美元

英國石油公司(BP)在召開董事會之後，27日正式宣布，因為墨西哥灣漏油事件而腹背受敵的現任執行長海華德(Tony Hayward)，將於10月1日下台，並由美國籍的總經理杜德里(Bob Dudley)接手。英國石油公司27日也公布今年前半年的財務報告，包括出現史上最大的季虧損在內，加上為了支付墨西哥灣漏油事件的賠償及重建工程，一共虧損達322億美元。

英國石油總裁思文凱(Carl-Henric Svanberg)在聲明中說：「董事會對於損失一名傑出的執行長，感到非常難過。海華德在過去約3年的執行長任內，帶領英國石油走向成功，所獲得的成就相當令人激賞」。

Although BP set aside $32.2 billions for the cost of clean-up, it is still  too early to finalize the bill. If there were many litigation for compensation, the final bill may double, according to some analysts. Bob Dudley, the new chief, surely has a formidable task ahead. He is a more diplomatic man who may be able to soothe the relationship of BP with US, and in some way, restores the tarnished image of the company. Whether he is a fixer that can change the culture of company, stressing  more on the safety of its operations is yet to be seen. With the cap successfully stopping the oil spill and the rising stock price, BP's future is not that gloomy.
