Frankly, I see no light at the end of the tunnel. The strategy of Israel in the so-called 'peace negotiation' is quite consistent, stalling the progress of the talk and building settlements incessantly. In fact, starting at the days of Ben Gurion, many hawkish Israeli politicians were staunch apostles of Greater Israel. Palestinian authority has to reject the precondition (right to build settlements before any fruition of peace talk) as it is both politically and realistically not viable. After the recent US election, Obama is in a very weak position to bring any change to the current stalemate as he has to seek the votes of the Jewish population for the presidential election in two years. Some comment the US Jewish population are even more recalcitrant than those in Israel. |
