Gallas To Cheer On Italy - 16 Nov 2007
Arsenal’s French international defender, William Gallas, will be cheering for the Azzuri on Saturday, when they face Scotland at Hampden Park.
Gallas will be a keen observer and he has made no secret of the fact that he “hopes Scotland lose.”
A win for Italy would send France through, but if Scotland were to earn a draw, Le Blues would need a point from Ukraine in Kiev, in order to qualify for the Euro 2008 party in Austria and Switzerland.
Despite Ukraine all ready out of the running to qualify, Gallas acknowledges it would be a tough game that would not be relished by his team-mates.
"We will watch the game between Scotland and Italy.
"I'm sorry but I hope Scotland lose.
"I'm not surprised that Scotland are challenging, they are a good team and they give their maximum."
"It's a tough game [in Kiev], but everyone knows we may have to draw there."
Gallas’ plans to watch the game on television, may be scuppered though by French coach Raymond Domenech, who has other plans for his squad.
Instead, Domenech intends for Les Bleus to watch Ukraine entertain Lithuania, in order to swot up on their opponents, ahead their trip to Kiev on Wednesday. |
