馬來西亞----快要絕種不常見的筒式蝸牛

在馬來西亞一個荷蘭生物學家隊,已經編錄31種亞洲Plectostoma蝸牛,其中十種對科學硏究是全新。這些奇異形狀的小土地蝸牛只活在石灰岩山丘,由於石礦業採石威脅,一個物種已經滅絕,另一種Plectostoma tenggekensis很可能2014年年底滅絕.

另一個特點是,它們只生活在石灰岩的山丘上。在東南亞,這些山丘通常並不多見,並且距離很遠,因此使蝸牛是完全各自隔離的,這導致有大量的“特有種”. 所以很多Plectostoma物種只生活在一個的山上,不會在地球上任何一處。
