Adebayor in confident mood
Emmanuel Adebayor feels it was important for Arsenal to go into the international break at the top of the Premier League.
Adebayor turned in a stunning performance and netted Arsenal's 1000th Premier League goal in the impressive 3-1 victory at Reading on Monday night.
The result took The Gunners back above Manchester United on goals scored, and with a match in hand on the champions.
Adebayor believes the way Arsenal played against Reading will have sent a strong message to Sir Alex Ferguson's side that the title race will go down to the wire this season.
"The most important thing was to do a good job and win the game - but to be back at the top is great as well," said the Togolese striker.
"It is very important going into the international break. It gives us a lot of confidence.
"We wanted to stay ahead of Manchester (United) and show them we are strong - and we have done that.
"Of course, it is a long title race - and it's where you are at the end of the season that matters. But we are very happy with how things are going." |
