It only needs to be designed to withstand the weight of the water!
% `& T) w5 g* d; U3 d9 _9 Z& k6 j公仔箱論壇Why? A ship always displaces an amount of water that weighs the same as the ship, regardless of how heavily a ship may be loaded

* t- \( R# a, n0 v1 g6 I n6 qTVBNOW 含有熱門話題,最新最快電視,軟體,遊戲,電影,動漫及日常生活及興趣交流等資訊。The Magdeburg Water Bridge is a navigable aqueduct in Germany that connects the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Mittelland Canal and allows ships to cross over the Elbe River. At 918 meters, it is the longest navigable aqueduct in the world.
9 J. Q. @' S$ S1 x% }9 N* ltvb now, tvbnow, bttvbThe Elbe-Havel and Mittelland canals had previously met near Magdeburg but on opposite sides of the Elbe Ships moving between the two had to make a 12-kilometer detour, descending from the Mittelland Canal through the Rothensee boat lift into the Elbe, then sailing downstream on the river, before entering the Elbe-Havel Canal through Niegripp lock. Low water levels in the Elbe often prevented fully laden canal barges from making this crossing, requiring time-consuming off-loading of cargo. " Q; U( x, S+ e$ c* _; e# v
# v( w" P5 V( T6 Y( ]7 i: bConstruction of the water link was started as early as in the 1930s but due to the World War 2 and subsequent division of Germany the work remained suspended till 1997. The aqueduct was finally completed and opened to the public in 2003.
