A police spokesman said a team of policemen and Social Welfare Department personnel rushed to the flat Monday morning and forced their way in to see a frightened girl with injuries on her hands, legs and body, apparently the result of physical abuse.% |$ O* Q$ |3 q: U, U
She had been left alone at the flat by her father, who was spotted by neighbours returning to the housing estate but fled when he noticed policemen at his flat.% r# v/ f  s6 p1 {" H

North East District Police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng confirmed the rescue and said an investigation has been initiated.
