imo the rings GPS should give very accuate location. but Miachale know exactly where laughing is because the gym use to be their meeting place, if laughing wants to see him, he must be there.

The most reasonable explanation for me, is he want to lower Jodie, to reduce the height of fall, unfortunately, the rope is too short, and only make thing worse.
