32 bit OS, xp or vista, can only show (and use) around 3.25 GB ram,wasted around 750MB
64bit can show and use the whole 4.0GB

64bit windows can run 32bit programs (task manager show them as xxx*32), but can only use 64bit drivers
note that 64bit windows can no longer run 16bit programs
