美国亿万富翁斯坦.克伦克表示不排除在未来收购阿森纳的可能。

这家北伦敦俱乐部刚刚通过了一项为期5年的锁定协议，以保证董事们在2009年4月份之前只能将股份卖给“允许的人”，并且保证此后直到2012年10月份之前如果有董事要卖出股份，董事会中的其他人将是“第一选择”。

自从上个赛季末期戴恩离开俱乐部后，阿森纳将被克伦克或者尤斯马诺夫收购的消息就被炒的沸沸扬扬。
然而，锁定协议的通过意味着外国投资者的收购步伐将会有所减缓。

No new injuries expected for Liverpool game - 26 Oct 2007




Arsenal have no new injuries ahead of the trip to Liverpool on Sunday.

Robin van Persie (knee) and Philippe Senderos (back) are both still absent. The duo picked up their injuries on international duty a fortnight ago and are considered to be on course for their expected returns.

In the case of the Van Persie that should another three to five weeks. Speaking to Arsenal TV Online last Thursday, manager Arsène Wenger estimated the injury to Senderos would be sorted in a fortnight so he should be nearing a return to the squad.

Liverpool seem to be in the midst of another fabulously inconsistent season. They may have beaten Derby 6-0, but draws with Tottenham, Portsmouth and Birmingham can only be classed as six points dropped for a title-chasing team.

Like Arsenal, the five-time European Champions have failed to mount any serious title bid in the last three years and many of the Anfield faithful wanted that addressed this time around. Boss Rafa Benitez obliged and spent big in the close-season bringing in several highly-rated individuals.

Liverpool sit fourth behind the two Manchester teams and Arsenal after a welcome win on the Blue side of Stanley Park last Saturday. By winning their game in hand on City and United, the Reds can move up to third.

Anfield form in the Premiership has been the topic of much scrutiny with three domestic draws and Liverpool also lost their formidable European home record with defeat by Marseille. Their saving grace in past seasons, Champions League form, is also stuttering somewhat. They are bottom of Group A with one point. Realistically they require three wins from their remaining three games to qualify — a fact that may be costly in the coming months.

Still despite a somewhat uncertain season so far one thing does remain. Sunday is certain to be one of the toughest trips the Gunners will embark on all season.
We spoke to Tony Barrett of the Liverpool Echo ahead of Sunday's clash.



THE STORY SO FAR
"The season has been a bit of mixed bag for Liverpool so far. They started very well at the Derby County match when they won 6-0 and I think a lot of Liverpool fans started to think about title challenges and all that sort of stuff. The international break came at a bad time for them and I think the momentum they build up was gone, and since the performances have become much more erratic. They are still unbeaten but they don’t look as cohesive a unit as Rafa Benitez would have hoped. Everyone looked at the result against Everton as something that would kick-start our season again but Wednesday night’s defeat at Besiktas has made people think that there is a still quite a lot of work to be done.

"At the start of the season at Liverpool I think of lot of the fans were saying that we don’t need to talk of winning the title, we just want to see a genuine challenge and by that they mean being in contention come Easter time. The past few years they have been out of it by Christmas or even before. There have been 20 point gaps, even 30 points by the end of the season and that is not good enough for a club like Liverpool. They are going to be looking to be closing that gap and if there is a title challenge then the Liverpool fans will be satisfied with that."



MAN OF THE MOMENT
"Fernando Torres has captured everyone’s imagination on Merseyside. He’s a forward that makes things happen. His pace is what sets him apart because he is the one Liverpool forward who is blessed with natural speed. If he gets away from the centre back they don’t catch him up. His goalscoring record has been good since he signed — he has got seven in nine starts. He looks the part, everyone is impressed with him and happy he’s here."



NEW FACES
"Voronin has been a surprise for many Liverpool supporters because no-one was expecting much of him. He has actually done OK. He is a steady player, he holds the ball up well, brings people into the game and is capable of getting a goal. Ryan Babel has been used more as a left winger which I think he is having to get used to. There is enough competition for places up front and you can see him trying to get in some shots from the left. You can see his natural game is as a frontrunner but he looks like the type of player where there is a lot of talent waiting to come through. He is one of those that you can see in a year or so - if he trains well and takes on the advice he will be getting - he could be a top player."



CAUSE FOR OPTIMISM
"Hopefully Daniel Agger will be back in week to 10 days because his injury has been a big, big blow. He is one of those centre backs who reads the game really well. He also brings the ball out of defence and creates an extra man in midfield. I think he has been a key loss for Liverpool. One of the reasons why they are not doing so well going forward is that Agger is so often that extra man in midfield allowing the rest to play a little higher up the pitch then they are at the moment. Sami Hyypia is at that stage of his career where ideally he won’t be playing two games a week and that could be a problem if he does because he is 34 years of age."



TALKING TACTICS
"The side Rafa had out on Wednesday is pretty close to full-strength considering the injuries they have at the moment. The back four will likely stay the same but the midfield could be interesting because Xabi Alonso is back now. I will be surprised if he doesn’t come back in because his passing game is a great aspect of Liverpool’s play. Then we have Benayoun, Pennant and Babel - that is for three fighting for two positions - as well as the option of Steven Gerrard who can play wide right. Up front I think Peter Crouch did himself the world of good by setting up the goal in midweek as he has been on the sidelines for some time. I think he will have pleased the manager with his cameo appearance, but to be honest you can’t second guess Benitez’s selection policy."



IMPRESSIONS OF ARSENAL
"Arsenal were very impressive on Tuesday. They are one of those sides that if they get a goal ahead and hit form then they will be unstoppable. A very young side with lots of confidence, lots of great ability, but I do think that they are yet to have a real genuine test. A team needs to pose a different kind of problem, maybe psychological type of problems. I think Liverpool will defend a lot tighter than many do against Arsenal and, at the other end, they will really look to get at the back four. Not many teams have really had a go at Arsenal yet and their form has been magnificent but they are still to be tested and hopefully that test will come at Anfield.

"The way Arsenal have started the season, they built up expectations so much that now people are talking about them as potential winners. But I think Manchester United will take some stopping and their experience gives them the upper hand slightly. This weekend though is a big one for Arsenal. If they come to Anfield and win that will give them the kind of confidence to think they are not just having a good start but actually they can go on and win this."

Blues boss wants Bendtner back - 26 Oct 2007

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has revealed to setantasports.com in an exclusive interview at St Andrews that he believes that Nicklas Bendtner will be a hit at Arsenal, and the manager says he would love his former player to come back.

Bendtner experienced a promising season on loan at Birmingham last term, as the 19-year-old Dane helped The Championship side to gain direct promotion, scoring 14 goals in all competitions.

Bruce keeps a great memory of the youngster and has declared that he would love to re-sign him, but understands that his transfer fee would be very high.

The athletic striker has struggled to play regularly at Emirates Stadium since his return to Arsenal, appearing only three times in The Premier League and once in The Champions League, scoring a classic goal in the 7-0 victory against Slavia Prague.

Bendtner, who will turn 20 next January, has hinted he could leave the London club if he is not given more opportunity to prove himself, but experienced Bruce advises him to be patient because his time will come.

“If I bring him back, he’s going to cost us a lot of money, that’s for sure” Bruce told setantasports.com.
“And I would love to bring him back.

“Nick knows he has to show a little bit of patience because sooner or later he will break into the Arsenal team, I am convinced of that.

“But if he became available, of course I would be interested.”

Patience pays for Wenger as £10m Hleb finally starts to justify his great promise







Arsene Wenger's very own Alexander The Great has been the unsung hero of Arsenal 's unlikely Premiership title charge this season.
With his socks halfway down to his ankles, Alexander Hleb is hardly the most glamorous or high-profile top-flight player.

But make no mistake, there have been few better in the league this season than the Belarus midfielder, who has really come into his own in his third year with the Gunners.
Everyone has been talking up Cesc Fabregas, Emmanuel Adebayor and Theo Walcott.  
But Arsenal go into the biggest two games of their season so far - at Liverpool tomorrow and at home to Manchester United next Saturday - with Hleb at the very top of his game. He epitomises the Wenger football philosophy, he is skilful, has quick feet and is full of ideas and energy.

Players like Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg before him took a year or so to settle in. Hleb has taken an extra 12 months after his £10m move from Stuttgart.

He had a disappointing first year and seemed to improve only a bit last season. But had he been for sale there would have been no shortage of takers.

That is because Hleb, like Pires and Ljungberg, has a great ability to want and take the ball under pressure, no matter how many defenders are around him.

This season he has also scored, as he did against Slavia Prague in Arsenal's seven-goal demolition of the Czech league leaders.
The Gunners have now won 12 games in a row and are unbeaten in 22. Most importantly, they are beating opponents with style and will go to Anfield full of self-belief.

I still have my doubts about their title credentials. They lack experience and their are concerns about their goalkeeping - Manuel Almunia is not top-class. I also wonder whether Adebayor and Mathieu Flamini can last the season.

But everything will become a lot clearer after the next 10 days and Wenger is probably relishing the challenge too. He has given his team the belief they can outplay Liverpool and compete with Manchester United.

Chelsea were my tip to win the title but I kissed their chances goodbye with Jose Mourinho's exit.

United, with Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo looking magnificent, will take some stopping. But Arsenal will be a lot closer to doing that than Liverpool.

Wenger even has some unhappy big names on the bench. Gilberto Silva and Jens Lehmann are not surprisingly frustrated. Gilberto has been a terrific servant and is captain of Brazil. I have more sympathy with him than with Lehmann, who has made too many mistakes.

But Wenger has given Almunia and Flamini a chance to establish themselves and the core of the team has basically stayed the same - unlike Liverpool under Rafa Benitez.

Arsenal seem to have found the right blend of youth, experience and exciting talent, despite Thierry Henry's departure.

Hleb was often accused of cutting back inside rather than going for goal. But now there is no intimidating figure screaming for the ball, just team-mates who are as good as each other and who are playing with brilliant style and confidence.

Arsenal may not win at Liverpool and may have to settle for a draw with United. But they are coming of age and it is a joy to watch these wonderkids graduate.

Bacary Sagna shining in Arsenal crop




Let's cut to the chase with the important bit first. What's with the hair? How did Bacary Sagna come to choose such an unusual style – blond braids hanging down like a beaded curtain? Arsenal's impressive new right-back explains with a smile.

"It goes back years, to when I was still playing up front as a boy. It was a bet with my dad, who said I could have my hair how I wanted it if I scored in the next game. I scored two so went out and had these braids put in. It's been the same ever since."

The same, that is, until the other week, when Sagna took out the false extensions to wash his real hair.

"It was the day before the Sunderland game," he remembers. "Time was tight because we were due to meet at the hotel and I couldn't get the braids back in. In the end, I left them out for the game and made a mess of it when I tried to put them back in. My mum did it properly when I returned home to France."

Yes, you can always rely on mum – as you can, it seems, on Arsene Wenger when he plucks out a relative unknown to play for his side. The French manager rarely fails when it comes to earmarking the right sort, Sagna being the latest to thrive in London N5.

What makes this player slightly different, however, is the almost indecent haste with which he has apparently conquered the task, as if settling down in a new country and adjusting to the Premier League were nothing more taxing than buying a baguette.
Helping him along is a simple ethos.

"I've tried to give my absolute best in every game," he says. "Working hard has brought results."

There is nothing remotely flash in the way Sagna plays, nothing too complicated or intricate that could get in the way. A tough, resolute defender, he gets the basics right first before even contemplating something more elaborate. It's an attitude and style that has blended perfectly so far with the more expansive qualities that have characterised his new club's wonderful start to the season.

"Playing in a team like Arsenal obviously helps," he confirms on the eve of tomorrow's tasty trip to Liverpool. "The thing you do notice straight away is that it is quite physical. There's lots of tough tackling in this league. My fighting spirit, though, is one of my main attributes."

Known as a quiet, discreet, model professional back in France, Sagna showed his steely side when Arsenal came calling this summer. Having only just sold Younes Kaboul to Tottenham, Auxerre were understandably reluctant to let another star defender go. Yet Sagna was insistent.

"Yes, I was determined. It was time to make a move. I'd been there all my life and at 24 I wanted to develop at a club where I could make progress. The chance to join Arsenal doesn't come along every day. I couldn't miss out on joining one of the best clubs in Europe."

Nothing can detract, however, from his time in Burgundy, where Guy Roux's epic 44-year stewardship became the stuff of legend. Sagna will never forget Roux's all-pervading influence.

"He was massively important for me, pushing me every day in training, demanding that I give it my best. In my personal life and in my football career he has helped a great deal. He just teaches you how to carry yourself, how to behave on and off the field."
It was Roux, in fact, who played a big part in Sagna's decision to play for France instead of Senegal, the birthplace of his parents.

The youngster was still playing for Auxerre's reserves when his father sent off several letters to Bruno Metsu, the Senegal national manager, asking that his son be considered for the 2002 World Cup squad. A reply never came – something Senegal would come to regret when Sagna made his Ligue 1 debut three years later.

Suddenly, the phone starting ringing. The country of Sagna's descent was desperate to recruit the talented defender.
Roux, however, had other ideas, as did Rene Girard, France's under-21 coach. Between them, they phoned Sagna's father practically every day, imploring him not to let Senegal get hold of Bacary, since both of them thought the prospect was good enough to represent Les Bleus.

And both, as it turned out, were absolutely right. With two caps to his name already, Sagna should push Willy Sagnol very hard over the next few years for France's right-back slot. Thinking back to the decision, Sagna sighs with a shrug.

"Now I get criticised. When I go back to Senegal loads of kids always surround me and ask why I chose France. But I am a big lad now. I can take it. The advice I got at the time was good."
It can't be bad now, either. As a mentor, they don't come much better than the skilful Wenger.

"The boss has regular chats with me, telling me how I'm doing and how I can improve. He was one of the main reasons I came here – that and the fact that Arsenal are a big club that like to play good football."


So on to the next two games. Following tomorrow's trip to Anfield, Manchester United visit the Emirates Stadium in the second part of a test that many see as crucial in examining Arsenal's credentials as potential champions.

"A lot of people say that, but I don't agree," Sagna says. "We have to concentrate on ourselves. No matter who the opponents are, we've got to impose our own style of play. That's the important thing."

So exactly how far can the table-toppers go, fresh from their 7-0 thrashing of Slavia Prague?
"Why not win the league? Why not the Champions League? We are all young and believe in our hearts that we can do it. If you can't believe these things when you are young, when can you? You just go for it without any fear.

"I read the newspapers at the start of the season. Everyone said we would struggle without Thierry Henry, that we wouldn't be able to cope. Thierry was obviously a great player for this club but maybe the players here now feel a little more confident to try things, feel more liberated and relaxed."
There speaks a man who is utterly comfortable in his new surroundings. After a handful of games, Arsenal feels like home.
