Home Secretary Theresa May made the paltry offering in the House of Commons this morning when she was forced to ask questions about the latest fiasco embroiling London 2012.

Last night, G4S finally admitted it wouldn't be able to supply all 10,000 security staff to man the Games - forcing Mrs May to go cap-in-hand to the Ministry of Defence to ask for 3,500 service personal to make up the shortfall.

Many of the troops will have just returned from Afghanistan and will be due much-needed rest and recuperation which will now have to be postponed. & M: S$ Q. {6 B+ S

Mrs May revealed that she was only informed of the problems with the staffing numbers 24 hours ago, telling the Commons: 'The fact that there was a gap of this size that required this contingency came into view, was crystallised, only yesterday.'

Buses used the M4 lane to ferry  athletes and  VIPs from Heathrow airport to the Olympic village in  Stratford, east London,  which opened today.

The chairman of the London 2012 organising  committee Locog issued the pessimistic warning as dark clouds loomed ominously  over London today and  there are fears that if the bad weather continues  many events might have to be rescheduled.

The country is due some sun, so far the UK has seen just a quarter  (26%) of  the average amount of sunshine for the whole month. The average temperature has  been 13.7C, which is 1.1C lower than the average for July.

The terrorist, who is suspected of helping  the suicide bomber, is thought to have another powerful bomb similar to the one  which destroyed the Israeli tourist bus.

MI5 and Scotland Yard are thought to have  raised their threat assessment against the Israeli delegation as Britain  prepares for the largest peacetime security operation ahead of the opening of the  Olympics this Friday.

According to The Sunday Times, the Israeli  government - fearing a repeat of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich when 11 of its  athletes and coaches were murdered - has sent agents from its internal security  service Shin Bet to increase the protection around its Olympic team.

Israel's external security service  Mossad  are also thought to have sent a team of agents to Europe to hunt  for a group of  white Europeans who have converted to Islam and are  working with the Iranian  Quds force and Hezbollah - the terrorist group  backed by Tehran.

London's streets will also see an extra  12,500 police officers on patrol while the Olympic Stadium has seen panic rooms  installed for VIPS and spectators in case of an attack.

A controversial artist has produced a fitting work to commemorate the 2012 Olympics - a mechanical sculpture of an athlete  doing push-ups, made from a traditional London bus.

With two giant arms and an electrical engine,  the 1957 bus has been transformed into a piece of art by Czech sculptor David  Cerny.

The work, named London Boosted, has been installed outside the Czech Olympic House in Islington, north London, to mark  the Games' opening in the capital on Friday.公仔箱論壇1 t3 Y4 P) |) V

Mr Wilson named the installation after  Michael Caine's last line in the 1969 movie - 'Hang on a minute lads, I've got a  great idea...'.

路透社報導，捷克一名裝置藝術家重新設計了一輛雙層巴士，使英國倫敦的傳統象徵多了一分趣味！為慶祝將於27日開幕的倫敦奧運，他將一台廢棄的雙層巴士裝上兩隻紅色手臂，且此手臂可藉由彎曲以及伸直，展現出雙層巴士做伏地挺身的有趣模樣。

　捷克藝術家大衛．塞爾尼（David Cerny）從荷蘭購入一台1957年的雙層巴士，並為其裝上兩隻手臂以及一個電動馬達，使身為倫敦象徵的傳統雙層巴士增添趣味，他將此最新的藝術作品取名為「舉高倫敦」（London Boosted），放置在位於倫敦的捷克奧運大樓外（Czech Olympic House）。

英國皇家郵政將以其獨特方式步步緊跟倫敦奧運，為英國隊加油。9 l# N; @8 n0 C

英國皇家郵政為2012倫敦奧運助興，推出一套日常使用的開幕式紀念郵票。

倫敦奧運將於7月27日晚舉行開幕式。

這套特別郵票共四張，分別展示四種主要體育比賽的圖案。公仔箱論壇, j" a, B! p* e( s- D" B& h
公仔箱論壇, Z: u9 {# P8 j. [2 S0 W2 W; d
其中兩張是一等平郵郵票，兩張是航空郵票（單價1.28英鎊）。

這套郵票的圖案包括一名跳水運動員在泰特現代美術館一側跳水、一名擊劍運動員與倫敦塔橋決鬥、奧運體育館上方賽跑的田徑運動員，還有一名自行車賽手騎著一輛前輪是倫敦眼（London Eye）的自行車。3 R h- p! t' y) ]( s+ k" z

倫敦奧運期間，皇家郵政還准備隨時跟蹤英國代表團的戰績，英國每贏一枚金牌，就發一張相應的收藏版奧運紀念票。

Even the wildflowers have come out to  celebrate the approach of the Games by surrounding the Olympic Stadium in bright  floral colours.

The tiny purple and orange blooms sprung up  virtually overnight after the sudden weather change brought a string of warm,  sunny days, just ahead of the start of the Games. 公仔箱論壇" Y8 Q! x- _9 u9 @0 ]: F2 i9 F& G

And the plants aren't the only ones coming  out for the Games as last minute preparations get underway across the country.
