防奧運恐襲‧倫敦開設“反恐熱線”

礦企爭上奧運場

力拓（Rio Tinto）銅業部門負責人安德魯．哈丁對旗下位於美國猶他州的科力托銅礦頗為自豪。按照他的說法，這個直徑將近5公里，深度達1300多米的露天銅礦，是可以在太空中肉眼可見的極少數人造奇跡之一。公仔箱論壇: k* M7 Z5 y9 X* ~4 E- V; K4 t0 o

The Olympic flame has touched down on UK soil this evening ready for its 70-day journey through Britain.

Arriving on board a special golden liveried British Airways flight from Athens, the Airbus plane 'Firefly' Flight 2012 touched down at RNAS Culdrose, Cornwall at 7.25pm.

The flame was held in four different lanterns, which were fastened into specially designed cradles in seats 1A and 1B for the near four-hour flight from Athens.5.39.217.76' X6 i, v) K+ a- @' j$ n% ^

It was carried down the steps of the plane by Princess Anne, who was followed by Games chairman Seb Coe, London mayor Boris Johnson and former England captain David Beckham. ' h. n. |: g) c; E4 w2 k, _

While the Games could be perceived as an extravagance, the Princess said, it was important to see it as an opportunity to boost skills and employment - especially for young people.

Sparks fly as Beckham brings Olympic Flame to British shores ahead of torch relay

David Beckham, the Princess Royal, Lord Coe, chairman of Games organisers Locog, and London Mayor Boris Johnson flew from Athens, Greece, with the flame.

They were on board British Airways flight BA2012, a gold-liveried plane named The Firefly.

The Olympic Flame was held in four different lanterns, which were fastened into specially designed cradles in seats 1A and 1B for the near four-hour flight from Athens.

Once on British soil, the distinctive gold London 2012 torch was lit from the lantern and was passed to former England captain Beckham.

Children who were promised a ‘major role’ in the Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies have instead been offered a part in local torch relay celebrations.

The Olympic flame arrived in Cornwall last night on board a special golden liveried British Airways flight from Athens.

An RAF Sea King helicopter later brought it to Land's End from RNAS Culdrose, near Helston.
