The death of Kim Jong-il would definitely increase the tension of the region.  There is rumor that his son Kim Jong-Un is even more aggressive.  I am sure US government is keeping a very close eye to see how thing unfolded.  Quite frankly, if Kim Jong-Un was smart, he should open the country for modernization so that his people will love him for what he did for the country instead of not-to object him for his military power.
