Castro's comment surely gives the impression that he is anachronistic. His assessment of global events stays at the Cold War period time frame. Given the stalemate of the US in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US is reluctant to start any new war. His view is perhaps much tainted by the Cuban Missile Crisis,  that the US is still the most powerful hegemonic power.  Castro may underestimate the economic power which is as formidable as military might.
