yeah.. fresh water, they come in a school, but not very big, like size of your hand, but you can get 30 per person, this is 2 people one morning, we took 51, but each of us released around 15 so we caught around 80 in a morning..作者: aocfun 時間: 2010-5-2 10:51 AM

if you look up Ontario Fishing Rule book, this fish is open all season around in zone 17.
And you are limited to 30 only per person.
If your government allow you to catch it, they have already did their research and know the fish population, so before you made your comments, please check your facts.

That fish is call Crappie or Black Crappie. Small mouth bass got a much rounded head and the Crappies got a dented head or humped shoulders
Hence that the opening season is all year round in Zone 17.
I'm let the rest to make their own judgement.

These are Crappie instead of smallmouth bass. According to Ontario fishing handbook, you can take 30 pcs per day for Crappie and it is opened year round. However, if it is bass (smallmouth or bigmouth), you can only take 6 pcs per day ! The bass season is usually from the 3rd Saturday of June until mid November ! What I have heard from my friends, if you were caught over limit by the warden, you will be charged CAD$5,000 per exceed fish. Be aware !

crappies are fun to fish, they eat everything comes across
but crappie meat is really crappy
you should let them go and get some real bass next time
