Torrance, California - Toyota Motor Sales has announced a safetyrecall that involves approximately 214,500 Lexus vehicles sold in theU.S. and affected by ethanol fuel. The recall is being launched withthe National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall affects certain 2006, 2007 and 2008 model-year GS300/350,IS250/350 and LS 460/460L vehicles. Some ethanol fuels with a lowmoisture content may corrode the internal surface of the fuel deliverypipes. If this occurs, the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) mayilluminate. Over time, the corrosion may create a pinhole in the fueldelivery pipes, resulting in fuel leakage.
Dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipes with newly-designed components. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved.

SSC7LC - During the manufacturing process of two specific fuelpipes located in the engine compartment, high stress areas may havebeen created in the pipes. Combined with other factors such as thepresence of corrosive agents in fuel, a crack may form over timeleading to fuel leakage.

SSC9LB - The slide pin in the rear brake calipers may notoperate smoothly on these vehicles. If the vehicle continues to beoperated under these conditions, the brake pads may make noise.

SC9LC - Customers may experience a noticeable gradual increasein the steering effort necessary at low speeds when turning thesteering wheel to the complete left or right position. This conditionmay be most perceptible when parking the vehicle.
