紐約市民對無雪的聖誕節感到十分失望，新年過後的氣溫更出乎意料地高，令很多商家叫苦連天。經營家族皮草生意的考夫曼說：「今年沒有人穿皮草，因天氣不夠寒冷，嚴重打擊生意額。」然而，由於氣候溫暖得像初春，光顧酒吧及餐廳的客人卻絡繹不絕，尤其是那些設有露天茶座的店子，餐廳老闆莫姆說﹕「溫暖的天氣對我們十分有利，人們喜歡在露天茶座用餐，今年的1月肯定比往年要忙。」
