Each episode finds filmmaker and naturalist Les Stroud in a remote wilderness location demonstrating primitive methods of survival… starting fire without matches, building a shelter and finding food are all elements that Les brings to the viewer. The Californian Sierra Nevada’s, the untouched forests of Northern Ontario, the enigmatic lands of Papua New Guinea and the desolation of the Canadian Arctic are a few of the locations. Apart from his rugged determination, camera equipment is the one thing he's not lacking. With his unique filming-rigs and an abundance of black humor he documents his seven-day journey on film as he overcomes seemingly insurmountable obstacles and explores the amazing and beautiful natural world around him.
