MANCHESTER City fans today expressed their disbelief at manager Sven Goran-Eriksson’s pending departure from the club.
Phil Coe, feature in our video sporting a Sven-Goran Eriksson t-shirt, said: “In a nutshell I’m absolutely disgusted. The way they are treating Sven is beyond belief and this can’t be based on football reasons.”
The 34-year old from Levenshulme added: “We’ve just had a really good season and I’m just stunned by it. Even by City standards this is astonishing. It’s a massively unpopular decision and I’ve not spoken to one fan who agrees with it. We’ve got one of the best in the world here and we’re lucky to have him.
“People talk about Scolari replacing him but I’m not convinced by that. They must be laughing their socks off at Old Trafford over this.”
Mark Forth, 49, from Chadderton, was at the box office demanding a refund on his recently-purchased season ticket.
He said: “We need stability at this club and that’s what we’ve had this season. We’ve had enough turmoil in the past and I’m disgusted with this.
“Nobody knows why Thaksin is doing this and the fans deserve an explanation. Sven was a gentleman of the game, a man who held himself with dignity when we lost, and I am absolutely gutted.
“We’ve just had our highest points total since the Premier League began and two wins over Man United.
“Perhaps Shinawatra thinks he can buy instant success but that just doesn’t happen.”
Carol and John Dawson, from Middleton, said they still hoped Sven could cling on to his job.
John, 32, said: “I think this is just a misunderstanding about how much money there is to spend on players for next season. “We’d be gutted to lose Sven and hope it won’t come to that.”
