Sydney Opera House, Australia take near late afternoon. Present in Black and White. I think no matter what period of time, it will continue with lot of people surround it. - Vincent Lim

It is a beautiful black and white photo, harmonic tone, correct exposure and nice composition.

The photo a bit soft, did you apply soft lens effect? And, the contrast might increase a little bit. btw, what filter effect u applied on this photo?

The photo I do not apply filter. I am traveling, and keep my shot as simple as possible and to be fast, just frame and composition for the scene I like, and then take it. Most of the shot I can not take second chance to re shot, since most of the travel scene I visit, just happen at that moment, I am either get it or I don't.

The photo is actually take in color, but I process it as black and white. But due to do not want to lost the people expression on the photo, and want the Sydney opera house to remain as white as possible, I bring out as many shadow bright detail as possible.

Let me know if you, how will you process the photo? try to learn from you.

3# limkimkeong my b&w photo is processed by DxO or Lightroom, it not just change the setting to B&W. I will apply filter & grain to it.
To me, filter is the critical role in the b&w photo. How to bring out the "colour" in b&w photo, it depend what filter you apply to.

B&W photo is not a colour desaturated photo to me. If you got time, please try to apply different filters to understand more.

Nowadays people might not like digital "noise" on photo, but I love b&w grain. The grain make the photo look realistic to me.

I learn from nowhere, but learn from mistake. So, keep trying u will know what is best to you.
