The Bern agglomeration, which includes 43 municipalities, has a population of 356,000. The metropolitan area had a population of 660,000 in 2000. Bern is also the capital of the Canton of Bern, the second most populous of Switzerland's cantons.
The official language of Bern is German, but the main spoken language is the Alemannic Swiss German dialect called Bernese German.

瑞士的首都，十一世纪时有熊出没，故定名为伯尔尼。古老建筑物有熊的雕塑，日用品往往以熊作商标。居然在照片中没有看到熊的雕像
