It hasn’t been a peaceful new year holiday for the government, and particularly Chief Executive Leung Chung-ying, with groups out on the streets both protesting against, and demonstrating for the establishment. The first, pre-emptive, protest came from the pro Leung Chun-ying camp and was organised by a group called Caring Hong Kong Power specifically to counter critical protests planned on New Year’s Day. In all, New Year’s Day saw rallies organised by seven groups. / Y7 n+ C, h; q/ b8 C- ^" ?While there were protests on New Year’s Day from both supporters of the government and those opposed, many people are asking why the pro-democratic forces weren’t working together. The government may be facing considerable opposition, but the democrats are divided. Earlier this week The Pulse went to Legco to speak to the Democratic Party’s new leader Emily Lau about their strategy for the future.
