B. y5.39.217.76It hasn’t been a peaceful new year holiday for the government, and particularly Chief Executive Leung Chung-ying, with groups out on the streets both protesting against, and demonstrating for the establishment. The first, pre-emptive, protest came from the pro Leung Chun-ying camp and was organised by a group called Caring Hong Kong Power specifically to counter critical protests planned on New Year’s Day. In all, New Year’s Day saw rallies organised by seven groups. 2 R* l! }) L# r: aWhile there were protests on New Year’s Day from both supporters of the government and those opposed, many people are asking why the pro-democratic forces weren’t working together. The government may be facing considerable opposition, but the democrats are divided.
