This week,Shiu Sin-por, head of the Central Policy Unit, went to a Legislative Council panel to ask for funding to hire a new officer to monitor public opinion. That gave rise to a debate on the role of the CPU, and of the activities of member Sophia Kao, who apparently needs to vet up to 3,000 individuals on advisory committees for the government.
