　　這是2004年播放的『新選組』以來第二部講述幕末時代的作品，也是2005年的『義經』之後第二部宮尾登美子的原作。

　　篤姬生於鹿兒島城下。嘉永6年（1853年）成為了薩摩藩主·島津齋彬的養女，同年從鹿兒島轉到了江戶藩邸。之所以做了表兄齋彬的養女，是為了日後可以為了進入將軍家。在這之前大奧就對島津家提過親。據說大奧此行為目的是，對前前代將軍·德川家齋迎娶了島津家出身的御台所（廣大院）後長壽且子嗣眾多一事的效仿。當時的將軍·德川家定的正室接連死去，而家定自身也體弱多病，連一個子嗣也沒有。

　　幕府為了促進公武合體政策，文久2年（1862年）朝廷決定將皇女和宮作為家茂的正室送入大奧。薩摩藩向天璋院提出住回薩摩國，但天璋院拒絕歸國。另外，當初進門的和宮與天璋院是一種「嫁姑」的關係，而且由於皇室出身和武家出身的差異使得兩人有著種種不和，但據說之後和解了。

宮崎葵堀北真希演古裝劇《篤姬》上演婆媳之爭
& t0 [; S' z# O6 o* utvb now,tvbnow,bttvb　　今年21歲的宮崎葵即將在新劇中成為19歲的堀北真希的婆婆，兩人更將因為這層關係來場婆媳大戰。這究竟是令人啼笑皆非的鬧劇，還是另有隱情的悲情劇？實際上這是日本唯一的國營電視台NHK，將於明年推出的年間古裝大戲大河劇《篤姬》的劇情設定。
+ n; y. y3 f2 M/ _0 Q  s# i  　這部即將於明年一月就開始正式上演，且一播出就會連續長達一整年的大河劇。所謂大河劇實際上就是古裝劇的意思，NHK每年都會播出年間大河劇，力求在激烈的日劇競爭中堅定地吸引住中高年觀眾的眼球。更早於年初就敲定現今人氣如日方中的宮崎葵領銜主演，這當然是電視台的極大挑戰，畢竟年輕演員在年齡層大的觀眾中不一定有什麼眼緣，但這並不妨礙NHK電視台的大手筆，他們甚至還找來今年才19歲的「野豬妹」堀北真希參加演出。
