　　原作是宮尾登美子的《天璋院篤姬》。主人公是江戶幕府第十三代將軍德川家定的正室天璋院（篤姬）。這是2006年的『功名十字路』相隔兩年後，歷史上第七部以女性為主角的大河劇。
　　這是2004年播放的『新選組』以來第二部講述幕末時代的作品，也是2005年的『義經』之後第二部宮尾登美子的原作。
　　主演的宮崎葵是初次主演大河劇，同時也是大河劇歷史上最年輕的大河劇演員。一般演員都是出演晚間日劇出道的，而宮崎葵是出演晨間連續劇出道的，以這樣的身份來出演大河劇在NHK歷史上也屬首次。5.39.217.769 H# m; d0 i# z5 w6 N& g
　　NHK企業為了防止被擅自盜用，對『篤姬』『大河劇篤姬』進行了多品種的商標註冊，將對使用者徵收使用費。雖然有批評說不應該獨佔『篤姬』這個歷史上的固有名詞，但NHK以過去的大河劇也有此先例為由，似乎並沒有撤回註冊商標的打算。

　　天璋院（てんしょういん·島津篤子→近衛敬子、天保6年12月19日（1836年2月5日）——明治16年（1883年）11月20日）篤姬（あつひめ）是江戶時代後期到明治時代的女性，是江戶幕府13代將軍德川家定的御台所（正室、繼室）。實父是薩摩國（鹿兒島縣）藩主島津家的一門·今和泉領主島津忠剛。幼名是一（かつ）。作了島津齋彬的養女時改名為篤子（あつこ），作了近衛忠熙的養女時改名為敬子（すみこ）。公仔箱論壇6 K$ G% Q! P( Q+ U
　　篤姬生於鹿兒島城下。嘉永6年（1853年）成為了薩摩藩主·島津齋彬的養女，同年從鹿兒島轉到了江戶藩邸。之所以做了表兄齋彬的養女，是為了日後可以為了進入將軍家。在這之前大奧就對島津家提過親。據說大奧此行為目的是，對前前代將軍·德川家齋迎娶了島津家出身的御台所（廣大院）後長壽且子嗣眾多一事的效仿。當時的將軍·德川家定的正室接連死去，而家定自身也體弱多病，連一個子嗣也沒有。5.39.217.766 ?# ^5 x/ p1 m6 ?
　　一方面，據說篤子是從齋彬處帶著政治使命被送進江戶城的。就將軍的後繼問題，當時幕府分為推崇一橋慶喜（德川慶喜）為次期將軍的一橋派，和推崇紀州慶福（德川家茂）為次期將軍的南紀派，兩派互相對立，齋彬為了讓慶喜繼承將軍而將篤子送入了德川家。但是，與當時是藩主的實子的廣大院相比，篤姬自身只不過是島津家分家的出身，一橋派大名處也有「作為御台所身份也太低了」的置疑的聲音。公仔箱論壇+ d. s$ k. j. s/ s( t: B) b
　　安政3年（1856年），篤姬成為了右大臣近衛忠熙的養女，這一年的11月作為家定的正室進入了大奧。但是，安政5年（1858年）7月齋彬突然死亡，8月家定也離開了人世，14代將軍由德川家茂就任，篤子沒有能完成使命。家定死後篤子剃髮，以後自稱為「天璋院」。% |- ]6 s- ^) C. N+ Z' s3 N

　　根據勝海舟等人的描述，天璋院對自己一手扶植並確立的將軍候補德川慶喜的關係十分險惡。慶應2年（1866年）針對慶喜的大奧改革，天璋院與在德川家茂死去之後號稱「靜寬院宮」的和宮一起進行了抵制。另一方面，慶應3年（1867年）由於慶喜對朝廷進行「大政奉還」的直接後果也就是從江戶幕府解散到江戶城無血開成的整個過程中，為了營救德川家和慶喜全力對自己的娘家島津家做工作，同時和宮全力做了朝廷的工作。 tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb  }" A2 h5 f7 f

　　《篤姬》不僅講述女主人公本身的一生，圍繞她形成故事的配角們也會在劇中經歷一生的歲月，堀北真希在劇中的年齡跨度也相當大，將從16歲一直扮演到32歲，這令首次參演大河劇的堀北真希既興奮又緊張，記者發表會上只懂不斷強調會努力演好。
　　和堀北真希相比，身為女主角的宮崎葵壓力當然更大，劇中她年僅23歲丈夫就去世了，還要在明治維新產生的動亂之中，為了拯救將軍家和日本努力不懈。

日本「NHK」電視台今天推出新年度的大河劇「篤姬」，由目前當紅的年輕女星「宮崎葵」擔綱，宮崎葵可說是NHK大河劇史上最年輕的女主角。
