曾經參與設計北京奧運體育館〝鳥巢〞的艾未未，目前在北京的家中遭當局嚴密監控。日本《讀賣新聞》3月5號報導，艾未未在接受采訪時透露，他在奧運會進行期間就明白了，中共只是把體育館和奧運〝作為自我歌功頌德的舞臺〞。他發現，自己被政府用來散播愛國教育，因此醒悟過來，奧運之後，他沒看過鳥巢。艾未未在采訪中指控當局〝道德淪喪〞，已進入了〝絕望的階段〞。
