他表示，中國大陸政府〝在追求沒有言論與思想自由、片面的實用主義，目前正處於道德破產的絕望狀態。〞
艾未未母親高瑛：〝鳥巢開幕式，他沒有參加，他肯定有意見，有想法。他既然這麽說了，那就是他的想法。〞

伍凡指出，中共的所作所為使艾未未清醒了：無論妳為中共做了多少，只要它對妳不滿意，就要把妳至於死地。過去很多從國外回來想幫中共的知識份子，最後被打成右派、折磨死，就是例證。
艾未未壹直是中共當局認可的藝術家。但08年汶川大地震後，艾未未到災區現場，意識到〝豆腐渣〞建築物是奪去眾多孩子性命的罪魁禍首，他不顧當局強大的阻力開始調查，在地震壹周年的日子，他公布了5 385名地震中遇難孩子的名單。3 x3 O/ q* E; J7 W1 R6 L. k( n
