曾經參與設計北京奧運體育館〝鳥巢〞的艾未未，目前在北京的家中遭當局嚴密監控。日本《讀賣新聞》3月5號報導，艾未未在接受采訪時透露，他在奧運會進行期間就明白了，中共只是把體育館和奧運〝作為自我歌功頌德的舞臺〞。他發現，自己被政府用來散播愛國教育，因此醒悟過來，奧運之後，他沒看過鳥巢。艾未未在采訪中指控當局〝道德淪喪〞，已進入了〝絕望的階段〞。

艾未未告訴《讀賣新聞》：〝北京奧運是用最新科技和安全部門70萬名警衛，來壓制壹般大眾的生活，那只是為了壹黨向世界宣傳自身光榮的舞臺而已。〞

政論家伍凡：〝艾未未被打了，他就深入的去思考：共產黨不僅是對他這樣，對更多的人也是如此，對整個中華民族、對所有的老百姓以及他內部的高官、基層官員都是如此，它只顧眼前利益，我要用呢時就用妳，不用妳就把妳當垃圾，當妳狗屎堆把妳扔掉。〞
艾未未告訴《讀賣新聞》：〝獨裁體制最大的罪惡是泯滅人類的情感。〞他說：〝因為我童年經歷過各種苦難，而且有許多人支持我，所以能承受這種處境。然而，我懷疑壹般人能否維持正常心態。〞
伍凡指出，中共的所作所為使艾未未清醒了：無論妳為中共做了多少，只要它對妳不滿意，就要把妳至於死地。過去很多從國外回來想幫中共的知識份子，最後被打成右派、折磨死，就是例證。
艾未未壹直是中共當局認可的藝術家。但08年汶川大地震後，艾未未到災區現場，意識到〝豆腐渣〞建築物是奪去眾多孩子性命的罪魁禍首，他不顧當局強大的阻力開始調查，在地震壹周年的日子，他公布了5 385名地震中遇難孩子的名單。tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb8 Y8 b) [2 a* ]! E& C* l, {5 H
