（美國）美國密蘇里州堪薩斯城10歲女童拉曾（Clara Lazen）在上課時發現新的分子，估計是史上年紀最小的新分子發現者。

拉曾在科學課上聽畢老師介紹分子形成後，即場以粒子模型砌出過往從未被發現的分子“tetranitratoxycarbon”，其緊密結構讓它有儲存能量的潛在特質，或能研發為炸藥。老師伯爾（Ken Boehr）見到後嘖嘖稱奇，致電老友、在加州大學任教的策勒（Robert Zoellner）求助。策勒用電腦分析拉曾的發現，認為分子構造可行。- s! V, }- x/ [5 b1 b

可製炸藥
策勒後來在化學期刊發表論文，把新分子的特性記錄下來，讓其他學者能嘗試製造，拉曾和伯爾被列為論文共同作者。策勒表示：“我從未與一個10歲的學生合作。”2 v% J' k4 C: r$ I6 D: P) @

伯爾表示，希望拉曾的例子更以吸引更多學生對科學感興趣，拉曾則表示，她當初只是“見到這些（粒子）可以連在一塊……看起來比較好”。（香港明報）8 N" G* ^2 X) P9 D* d

I am kind of confused about this news. How can a fifth grader understands the characters of nitrogen, oxygen and carbon ? What criteria did she use and then combined these 3 elements together and form a complicated combination -- tetranitratoxycarbon ? Did she know when she constructed the structure of these combination, it can store energy and release energy as well ?! Well, I think the credit should be given to her teacher -- Mr. Boehr who took her structure seriously and understood the potential of it, then called Dr. Zoeliner.
