Amid growing public anger over housing costs and spiralling income inequality, Singapore's prime minster, Lee Hsien Loong, has agreed to take a 36% pay cut – but he  will remain the world's best-paid leader.

Lee appointed the committee after a disastrous parliamentary election in which his party faced historic losses. The committee recommended that Lee's salary be cut by 36%, to 2.2m Singapore dollars (£1.1m).

By comparison, Barack Obama, as president of a country of 312 million people that also has the world's most powerful military and the top economy, earns £256,000.

Well, from what I know about the politics is that the leaders or the politicians do not really care about the salary.  They want the the fame and the benefit brought to them.  Anyway, the leaders are mostly all rich and wealthy people, cut 36% means nothing to them at all !

Let me put it this way, Politics, n Business is a love hate relationship. Always seen together in a partnership, but never has got along very well, down in history.
