The incessant crying of a child for about 10 hours up to 1am Monday prompted a disturbed neighbour to take action, resulting in the rescue of a six-year-old girl locked up alone at her flat in Jalan Perak here. 7 P g( x" s# z- g, G1 T6 MThe neighbour, who declined to be identified, said she heard the girl crying from about 3pm Sunday.5.39.217.76, P% v$ q9 n$ X I

A police spokesman said a team of policemen and Social Welfare Department personnel rushed to the flat Monday morning and forced their way in to see a frightened girl with injuries on her hands, legs and body, apparently the result of physical abuse. 0 h d# g; B; _ She had been left alone at the flat by her father, who was spotted by neighbours returning to the housing estate but fled when he noticed policemen at his flat. : J) d' h% i' w!
