Try re-install the IE or upgrade it to new version.
Over Windows Update, there's sure some update patches for IE, do update it and check again ur IE.

check he automatic update list.

Maybe there have a chance the automatic update crash ur system.

maybe u need to go back the last good recovery points (Under "system restore").
