England international goalkeeper signed from Norwich City on the eve of the new 2006-07 campaign in a deal that could eventually rise to £2million.
The 26-year-old, who has agreed a four-year contract at Upton Park, became Alan Pardew's seventh summer signing - and yet another talented young English star to be added to the squad.
After making his first-team debut for the Canaries in a 0-0 derby draw with Ipswich Town as a 19-year-old in April 1999, the Chertsey-born keeper went on to make almost 250 league and cup appearances for the club.
He was an influential figure as Norwich won promotion to the Premiership in 2004, and was rewarded for his performances in the top flight with a call-up to the full England squad - becoming only the sixth Norwich player in history to wear the Three Lions when he appeared as a substitute against Colombia in the United States in June 2005.
Since then, he has remained a regular member of the full England squad, and was set to travel to the World Cup finals in Germany this summer as a possible number two behind Paul Robinson.
However, disaster struck when Robert suffered a ruptured groin minutes after appearing as a substitute in a B international against Belarus at the end of May, ruling him out of the tournament.
After a summer of rehabilitation, he is now back in training and will soon be in contention to challenge Roy Carroll and Jimmy Walker for the number one spot at Upton Park.作者: jacksonkua 時間: 2007-10-12 11:20 PM 標題: 有关于英国报<THE SUN>的报道:-

ARSENE WENGER wants to buy £6million-rated West Ham keeper Robert Green.
The Arsenal boss hopes to cash in on Green’s growing frustration at Upton Park with a New Year bid.
Green, 27, is fed up at being consistently overlooked by England boss Steve McClaren and knows a move to one of the big four clubs would boost his chances of getting an international call-up.
Wenger remains unconvinced about current stopper Manuel Almunia.
The Spaniard took over by default from German No 1 Jens Lehmann, whose days at Arsenal are numbered.
The only sticking point could be that Green will demand first-team football.作者: jacksonkua 時間: 2007-10-12 11:26 PM 標題: 回復 #1 bernardlhtan 的帖子
Green has no chance,
(1)Green is an Englishman.
(2) That would be very much doubt any club not under financial or player pressure would sell their highly rated and continuously well performing goal keeper.
Linking Arsenal with English players is like linking Jose Mouriniho to ever work for Abramovich again.:onion03:
