Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, on the South Atlantic coast. Rio is famous for its breathtaking landscape, its laidback beach culture and well known for soccer, samba and carnival's. Rio de Janeiro is the place to visit if you're seeking a combination of beaches, sports, sun, exotic parks and gardens, and spectacular mountain views, along with dancing and drinking. Rio has a majestic beauty, as it's nestled between a glorious bay with dazzling beaches and a sharply rising mountain range covered by tropical vegetation. West Zone a rapidly growing suburban area including primarily the districts of Jacarepaguá and Barra da Tijuca, popular for its beaches! Most of the Olympics in 2016 will be hosted there.

Carnival is Rio's main event. It happens at the peak of summer, when Cariocas are at their best. Festivities attract thousands of people from all corners of the world. Carnaval, as spelled in Portuguese, is a 4-day celebration. It starts on Saturday, and ends on Fat Tuesday, or Mardi-Gras. Carnival Sunday is seven weeks before Easter Sunday
