That's the Star Ferry that I remember, hope it hasn't changed much. It's really pleasant riding on this ferry, only a short trip, but the view is marvelous. Beats going through the tunnel any time.

You probably don't know yet that the pier and the clock tower tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb1 m8 b$ _7 h7 q& [0 Q* ?
was retired on 12 November 2006, after some five decade of service.
The old pier has been demolished and replaced by a new one some distance away.

From the last picture above, you may find a old pal looking at its construction
on the other side of the shore. 公仔箱論壇0 ?+ e5 }' K) o

The clock, manufactured by the same company as the Big Ben in London,
and probably made in the same era, was carefully removed and stored up
by the HK Government for future reprovisioning to suitable venue later.

It is our best wishes that we can see its beauty again soon, hopefully in here too.

Thank you Busyfun. I was back in HK 18 months ago, but it was a short trip, didn't notice the change of the Star Ferry. It looks a pity that they have remodeled the wharf, it had so much character with lots of open space, we are all going to miss it. What about the kowloon side? Has it changed too?

At present there is no big changes at the Kowloon side of the Star Ferry. But nobody can tell it will not be changed in the future.
I heard that there is a plan to reallocate soon the bus terminal adjacent to the Ferry./ t5 N, O+ L3 ?  w/ q( Q

Land is scarce everywhere in developed city; Hong Kong is of  no exception.

Is it good or bad? I don't know. But I am sure, with the tide of history, fading out of famous Hong Kong beauty spots like Star Ferry in Central are not rare to happen in Hong Kong in years to come.
