　　当天，易华仁在国会回答询问时，首次正式披露了对核能发电展开的两年“可行性前期”研究结论。易华仁说，虽然一些邻近国家正在考虑用核能发电，但以目前的技术，这么做还是弊大于利，因此新加坡暂不考虑修建核电厂。3 Y8 v7 H, w2 H

　　易华仁表示，安全考量是最大的因素，考虑到新加坡地小人多，目前来看风险大于好处，“所以还是等到科技进一步提升后再考虑”。报道称，他没有透露核电厂修建计划会搁置多久。

　　不过，易华仁表示，因为邻近国家如越南、泰国、印度尼西亚和马来西亚都在考虑兴建核电厂，因此新加坡即使自己不建，也需要了解最新进展。为此，新加坡需要培养一批懂得相关技术的人才。
