The pigment used for the paintings is red ochre, which is clay containing a high concentration of iron oxide. The agent that binds the pigment to the rock may have come from any number of animal by-products. The majority of the images were traced with the finger, and some could have been drawn with brushes made of animal fur or plant fibers. During that time, First Nations peoples designated this area one of their sacred places by painting designs depicting wildlife, people and traditional objects. They are located 7 kms southwest of Weskuko Falls on Tramping Lake. Look for the cabin on the southeast shore, the pictographs are almost directly across the lake.
