Chinese figure skaters Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo won gold whilecompatriots Pang Qing and Tong Jian took silver in the pairs' figureskating competition, Monday evening.

Pairs skating is tough going. Zhao endured pain in his back, his shoulders, everywhere. They pushed on, encouraged by Canadian choreographer Lori Nichol.

Nichol calls Zhao, "just a big bear of love."

"They obviously adore each other," Nichol said. "It's very obvious. When he looks at her, he's so interesting because he's a strong guy, but he has so much love in his eyes. And when he looks at her, it just melts my heart every single time.

Their teammates Pang Qing and Tong Jian triggered a noisy standing ovation, skating to The Impossible Dream, and they made a silver medal possible. Tong pulled a David Pelletier and kissed the ice.

Because of Pang and Tong's sizzling performance, Shen and Zhao had to give up first place in the free skate to them, because one of their lifts collapsed. But Shen and Zhao won overall with 216.57 points, a world record. Pang and Tong earned 213.31.
