Premier League - Double injury blow for Chelsea

Chelsea have suffered a double injury blow with the club confirming that Ricardo Carvalho is out for up to four weeks, while Deco will be missing for a fortnight.

The Portuguese duo were both injured at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, with Deco tearing his upper thigh muscle before the match with Manchester United, while Carvalho picked up a knee injury in the first half of the match.
Deco is likely to sit out Chelsea's next four matches before an international break will give him extra recovery time; but Carvalho will face longer on the sidelines with UEFA Champions League group games against CFR Cluj next week and Roma on 22nd October being two matches he is set to miss.
However, Luiz Felipe Scolari will be hopeful that the centre-back will be fit for the crucial Premier League game with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on October 22nd.
Chelsea have had their share of injury problems already this season with Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba have recently just worked their way back into contention after suffering knocks.
Michael Essien however, is set to be out for up to six months after picking up a knee injury in pre-season.
Chelsea face Portsmouth at Fratton Park in the Carling Cup on Wednesday night.
