身份認同從來是糾纏不清的一回事。上一代香港人縱然確定自己的本土身份，卻始終有着大中華情結，他們相信自己是一群特別的中國人。他們的獨特，除了令他們有異於深圳河以北的中國人，有時也意味着他們對中國有特殊的使命。這會使他們與自視為純粹香港人的晚輩產生衝突，正如在2013年六四悼念晚會的論爭那般。兩代人對本土認同的不同詮釋，已發展為頗情緒化的意氣之爭。當親中共勢力已透過良好的組織動員取得政治影響力，以促進抗拒西式自由民主的港中政治融合，這場世代之爭對本土自治以及香港的民主發展恐怕會有不良影響。

身為重視本土的一群，筆者只能寄望在香港國族認同的形成過程中，能容得下對話的空間。畢竟不同世代、不同背景的香港人求同存異，共同為本土的自由、民主、尊嚴和福祉奮鬥，建立屬於香港人的自由國度，方為正事。
