2005年塞浦路斯Helios航空ZU522航班離開塞浦路斯拉納卡國際機場後，爬升至約為34,000英呎（10,000米）的飛行高度，地面控制中心與其失去聯絡。客機繼續按自動飛行模式操作，由塞浦路斯進入希臘範圍，雅典的控制中心先後19次試圖聯絡皆沒有回應，兩架F-16戰機隨後升空，近距離觀察客機內的情況。

  T% W( _5 R6 ~5 i1 P# Etvb now,tvbnow,bttvb不過，有關的「推算」，由於掌握的資料所限，因而是有可能出現誤差的，包括有關方面在計算時，是假設飛機以自動巡航速度即大概350節（約合648公里/時）飛行。而由於按MH370的位置和剩餘的油量，英國空難調查處認為，在偏遠的南印度洋海域中，油量可達範圍內根本沒有可供飛機降落的島嶼，故認為飛機極大可能墜毀，而馬來西亞政府隨後更單方面宣布飛機確認墜毀這個其實是推斷出來的事實。公仔箱論壇7 W4 t% m- a9 |7 F( i

雖然Inmarsat直認利用多普勒效應來尋找飛機是「從未使用過的方式」，但技術人員的專業，恐怕除專家以外，實難有人能提出質疑。然而，當中大抵仍存在一個邏輯問題，就是Inmarsat與英國空難調查處，是一直憑多普勒效應推算MH370航機的飛行路線，惟由於該方法是首次登場，故至今仍未有任何實例及證據，證明這個處子技術是正確的，甚至連判斷飛機飛向南印度洋這推測，仍有待驗證，或許這個未確定之謎，可能成為乘客家屬的終極希望。
