First, in Hong Kong on Tuesday, despite torrential rain and thunder, tens of thousands of people were in Victoria Park for the annual candlelight vigil in memory of those killed in the crackdown. Meanwhile, elsewhere, some groups also marked the anniversary in their own way. ! R* x1 S8 Z/ v; P5 U. g9 n, u6 y3 |! T7 H Y( g" K
In part two, among the student leaders in Tiananmen Square on June 4th were Shen Tong and Chai Ling. They, like many others, soon found themselves on Chinese government wanted lists and eventually made their way abroad, in their case to the United States. Today, 24 years after the event, they look back on it from very different perspectives.
