O2 Arsenal.com Player of the Month - Cesc Fabregas

Our October Player of the Month poll was dominated by two players - Cesc Fabregas and Alex Hleb. The Belarussian ran the Spaniard close but Cesc prevailed to scoop his fourth successive monthly award with 40.1 per cent of the vote.

Cesc played in five games during October and just got better and better. He helped Arsenal register wins against Steaua Bucharest, Sunderland and Bolton and was one of the driving forces behind that amazing 7-0 thrashing of Slavia Prague at Emirates Stadium. The 20-year-old opened the scoring in the fifth minute and rounded off a flowing team move to net the sixth in the second half. Cesc also popped up with a vital equaliser at Liverpool last Sunday and was only denied a late winner by the post.

Hleb also enjoyed a stellar month, littered with goals and assists, but had to settle for second place in our poll after receiving 37.2 per cent of the votes. Theo Walcott finished third after arguably his best month in an Arsenal shirt.

Competition winner Isra Issa of Uxbridge won the chance to present Cesc with his award before the home fixture against Manchester United.
"He has shown he has matured in every way," said Isra. "He scores goals and also makes assists which a quality midfielder should do. Cesc is very young and is still developing but he is growing into a man. I would love to see how he plays in five to seven years time."
